ParthenonAR
ParthenonAR is a project developed for Abgussmuseum in Munich aimed to improve the user engagement of a Parthenon model using Augmented Reality.
The Abguss Museum in Munich is a museum that focuses on cast models and exhibits over 1,700 cast replicas of statues and busts. One of its key research topics, and a valuable object on display, is the 1:20 scale polychrome reconstruction of the Parthenon, built in the 19th century for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Given the historical and architectural significance of this model, incorporating Augmented Reality (AR) techniques could reveal hidden details and enhance the learning experience for visitors.

With this goal in mind, I created a 3D model of the model, then designed a mobile application while considering the museum layout, visitor interaction, and institutional expectations. Finally, I developed the application itself.

After implementation, I conducted a user study with real museum visitors. The results were overwhelmingly positive, highlighting that integrating Augmented Reality significantly improved engagement with the model. This topic is a growing area of research within cultural technology, offering vast potential for future advancements.
